Changes in F-1, M-1 & J-1 Visa Issuance Dates

The U.S. Department of State has announced changes in the issuance and admission dates for F, M and J Visas:

• Initial F-1 & F-2 / M-1 & M-2 Visas – Individuals may now be issued these visas up to 120 days before the program start date as listed on their I-20s. However, these individuals cannot enter the united states more than 30 days in advance of the beginning of studies.

 • J-1 & J-2 Visas – These visas may be issued to individuals at any time before the beginning of their programs. However, J-1 visa holders may not enter the united states earlier than 30 days before the initial program start date.
