ICE Will Serve More Than 500 New Notices of Inspection (NOIS)

The focus on illegal immigration continues to be on U.S. employers. While there are fewer raids targeted towards indvidual illegal immigrants, there are many more audits and inspections of employers who are believed to be employing foreign nationals without proper authorization.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has confirmed that it will serve more than 500 Notices of Inspection (NOIs) to companies throughout the U.S. in September 2010. According to ICE, the audits flow in large part from leads about employers who allegedly are engaging in hiring unauthorized workers and paying employees unfair wages or otherwise exploiting workers.
Now more than ever it isĀ imperativeĀ that employers keep proper records for all employees, including I-9 records and public access files for H-1B employees.
