Immigrant Visa Applications To Be Filed Online
August 30th, 2013 by SRW Lawyers
The U.S. Department of State has announced that beginning September 3, 2013, individuals applying for an immigrant visa must now complete their applications online using Form DS-260 (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration). This form is available here.
The U.S. Department of State has been in the process of transitioning the immigrant visa application process from a paper-based to an online system. Many applicants have already been required to use the online form DS-260, e.g. individuals applying at the U.S. consulate in Montreal. With this announcement, nearly all immigrant visa applicants will now be required to use the DS-260 form.
The only exceptions to the requirement of using Form DS-260 will be for Diversity Visa and Cuban Family Reunification Parole applicants, who will continue to use the paper-based application forms.
